Fuerteventura is the second largest island in the chain and has even more to offer travelers than more popular areas in the region.

While there are inexpensive flights between Tenerife and Fuerteventura, a majority of international airports in Europe also fly directly to Fuerteventura. Here are a few reasons why this island is a great place for a family to visit when in Spain. 

As a volcanic island in the middle of a large archipelago, Fuerteventura's natural surroundings are its most popular features. From large mountains to sandy beaches, this island has countless natural wonders for a family to enjoy. Montaña de Tindaya is a unique mountain that features a bird sanctuary, hiking trails and ancient rock carvings.

Families who enjoy beaches and sand dunes should visit the beautiful Parque Natural de Corralejo. This expansive area is one of the largest preserved areas on the island. Playa de Cofete is a great location for a swim or picnic and is one of the more popular beaches on Ferteventura. 

It can be difficult for a family to find time to relax and spend time together when at home. Everyday life tends to be hectic with work, school and other events. Fuerteventura is the perfect opportunity for a family to wind-down and focus on some quality family time.
