Electric car charging option can be reserved for an additional fee (11 kW, Type 2).
Note! Weekend bookings end at 12.00 on Sundays in this cottage. Holiday cottages have been rented on Rantala Farm over 50 years. The comfortable cottage is ideal for both families with children and older holidaymakers.
Rantala Farm cultivates cereals and caraway seeds, some of the fields being scenic rather than productive. Forestry being important to the farmer, there are plenty of opportunities for guests to roam the forests or make use of the logging roads or trails for walks and backpacking. Wild berries and mushrooms can be freely gathered in the forest and the Rantala area is rich in this natural produce. There is a village society tepee on the farm’s land where guests are free to go to roast sausages or brew coffee over an open fire.
In winter there are 2-8 km long maintained ski trails nearby. At Purnu you can experience the exhilarating speed of downhill skiing. It is also easy to reach the national snowmobile trail network from the cottage.
The Juurlahti cottage is also known as “The Cobbler’s” because here the village cobbler used to live with his family, making sure the villagers were well-shod. The cottage yard area receives evening sunshine and the swimming shore deepens suitably gently. There is a rowing boat on the shore in which guests can go fishing for fat perch near the small island, then return to the shore to grill the fish on a grill. The Juurlahti cottage has a garden swing; its terrace has a table and a set of chairs.
Right next to the cottage there is excellent berry and mushroom picking terrain, which is also ideal for rambling in general. Come and enjoy the heat in a cottage sauna with a traditional wood-burning stove. We at Rantala Farm want you to enjoy your holiday and we are ready and willing to assist you to achieve this.
Ski track 0.4 km (length 2-8 km), snowmobile trail 0.4 km, Bird tower 1 km, Cafe Kivibaari 4 km, ski center Purnuvuori 5 km, Leivonmäki National Park 20 km, Joutsa 20 km, Hartola 24 km, Lahti 100 km, Helsinki 200 km.
