Description
Helen and Mike completed construction in 2018, this authentic and substantial log chalet is located on the ski bus line between Les Saisies and Les Contamines, 1300m from the 12-seater La Ruelle des Contamines gondola. Two free shuttle buses pass our chalet every hour in opposite directions, the second taking you to the Hauteluce chairlift in 15 minutes, leading to Les Saisies and the 185km Domaine Diamant, as well as the 120km Nordic Olympic Fond ski area.
This 175 m² chalet has underfloor heating, a fireplace in the living room, leather sofas and a large screen for watching films. Every room has been designed for comfort and convenience - from the bedding, carpets, fitted wardrobes and en-suite bathrooms, to the soundproof walls, floors and ceilings, to the mountain charm.
Chalet layout.
First floor: Entrance hall. Fully equipped kitchen for 12 people. Living room with fireplace (a limited amount of firewood is included - one log at a time is sufficient and safe for this wood-burning stove). Three bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms for two people each.
Second floor: Small twin bedroom with bathroom and gallery
Ground floor: Two bedrooms (1 bedroom 1 bed 160x200cm / 1 bedroom 1 bed 140 x 200cm). Bathroom (bathroom + toilet). Laundry room (washing machine + tumble dryer). Game room / ski room.
Bed linen included + beds made.
Towels + table linen included.
Private car park on the property.
Weekend cleaning option in fortnight -30% holiday). Wifi internet connection.
Sunny balconies.
1500m2 garden with barbecue.
Our chalet is spacious enough to accommodate twelve people and feel right at home. Our location is privileged. The feeling of being part of nature is exhilarating.
In the heart of the Beaufortain, a massif offering the famous Baroque path and beautiful hikes to high-altitude lakes, between pastures and typical habitats. The family resorts of Arêche, Beaufort and Les Saisies offer a multitude of outdoor sports and leisure activities.
La Ruelle has free parking, a ticket office, a ski hire shop and a local restaurant/bar. The 12-seater cable car takes you up to Les Contamines' 120km of snow-covered slopes. In five minutes, you reach an idyllic, sunny beginners' ski area with ski lifts and restaurants. A five-minute chairlift continues to the Col du Joly, with its breathtaking views of the Mont Blanc massif. The Hauteluce valley is an absolute beauty (and the sunsets for your ski house).
The spirit of Le Madrier
The tradition is there, nestled in the stack of trunks. As far back as 3000 years ago, wooden houses were built from tree trunks, using the stacked log principle. Today, modernized versions, adapted in kit form to current regulations (RE 2020), have proven an easy compromise - but never the depth and breadth of the real thing - literally!
Is it this ancestral aspect or the love of wood that attracts? The warmth and fragrance? The desire to live a little closer to nature? Or all of the above? Because yes, the log is a real state of mind: solid wood that you can see and smell to create a unique atmosphere.
For some, it's even a way of life. A return to our roots, in a way, an escape to the days when families, neighbors and friends helped each other to build village houses. It's also, quite simply, the pleasure of building with your own hands.
Aesthetics
With logs, the principle of construction creates aesthetics. In the old days, logs stacked one on top of the other intersected at the sharp corners of the house. The position of the interior partitions was also visible from the outside. The solid wood was visible, as it is still today, which is what gives log cabins their charm.
