Nearby activities: The former residential town on the Harz mountains has many other sights to offer besides the castle with one of the oldest preserved theatres in Germany. Visit the Roseburg, the castle park or one of the many museums. Explore the beautiful nature of the Harz Mountains on a bike tour or on a hike on one of the well-signposted and developed hiking trails. The idyllic Bode Valley, the towns of Quedlinburg and Wernigerode or the Hexentanzplatz (witches' dancing place) in Thale are within easy reach. Further excursion destinations include: Narrow-gauge railway to the Brocken, Rübeländer stalactite caves, Aschersleben Zoo or, in the immediate vicinity, the unique rock formation of the Gegensteine.
