Tips from owner:
Battenhausen, a district of Haina-Kloster, is known for the Haina Monastery, which is famous for the painter Johann Heinrich Tischbein, Goethe's best friend. Tischbein painted Goethe in Tuscany between 1751 and 1829, and the picture shows Goethe sitting with a large hat. This painting is extremely well known and hardly affordable. Incidentally, Goethe's small brown and white half-timbered birthplace hangs in the K.-W. Hütte. The ‘Zum Hohen Lohr’ inn in Battenhausen offers internet access and traditional regional cuisine. It is now run by the fifth generation of the family and the owner bakes various types of bread herself. The chef conjures up à la carte dishes and comes highly recommended. The idyllic village of Berfreiheit became famous as the ‘Snow White Village’, as it is considered the home of Snow White and the seven dwarfs. The Snow White House and the Historical Mining Museum in the centre are popular attractions for visitors. Nature theatre performances and the opportunity to hop on chat buses are among the highlights of the village. There are also plenty of options for food and souvenirs. The local stone-cutting workshop provides an insight into jewellery making. Two inviting places to stay are the Hotel Hardtmühle with its own stone-cutting workshop and the Gasthaus Brockmeyer zum Urfftal.
Remarks:
Expenses related to charging an electric or hybrid car (when possible) are always charged according to use and separately
