Levanto literally means "the land situated east of Genova". The town of Levanto has an interesting historical center, many beautiful painted villas, a bustling Wednesday market, good restaurants and shops. The main piazza, Piazza della Loggia, is a pretty square with a lovely 13th century medieval loggia. Levanto is a region with a particularly mild climate. The long sandy beach is great for all beach activities. It is a very good surfing spot and during the right days there are surfers from all over Europe. There is also a swimming-pool and diving center on the beach. During the summer there are many concerts and live music events.
