Particularly recommended, the feast of Our Lady of Santa Maria la Scala on the last Sunday of August, a picturesque event with a strong tourist attraction characterized by beautiful fireworks over the harbor, boat competition, the procession of the Madonnina and marine games. There is a Tourist Bus that will take you into Acireale ( check the bus times on the notice board by the small Church ), If you are there at midday you will hear the beautiful Church bells, you can if you wish make your way to the train station to catch the train to Catania or to Taormina, or walk back to Santa Maria La Scala along the beautiful Timpa nature trail ( downhill all the way from Acireale ) with its stunning sea views. The fishing village of Santa Maria la Scala is today an uncontaminated village that continues over the years to preserve the natural and wild characteristics typical of La Timpa, a majestic hill overlooking both Etna and the sea, culminating with a breathtaking view that it even goes as far as the Calabrian coasts.
