The Chalet «Zur Alten Mühle» (To the old mill) was build in 1940.
In the first place it was a grain water mill.
In the late 1940's and 1950's it was the first time that it was converted completely to living only.
In those days far away, and alone, from the village center. Today it stands very central in Bellwald. The village supermarket Volg with bread sale of the local bakery Imwinkelried, Raiffeisen-Bank, Post (Volg) and the cable car (Luftseilbahn) Bellwald-Fürgangen are on foot about 5 minutes near.
The mill is a paradise for Bookfriends ! (look the photos; bookshelves) Here you find the peace and „gemütlichkeit“ (german word for -to feel comfortable and fine) for reading your books.
In the Winter the crackle of the wood fired stove makes the atmosphere perfect.
You search here the TV-set in vain. Fear and uneasiness of the TV channels and mugglepress and with them connected all the negatives feelings, - stay outside !
In return there is, if wished, Internet via WiFi (WirelessLan).
Today nearly everybody brings its Laptop and DVD's along...
I wish you a very pleasant stay in the mill : ) !

Other things to note:

You will find actual informations, pamphlets and stimulation in the tourist office Bellwald and on the Internet (www point Bellwald point ch)
Many restaurants and bars invite you to a stop off.
For Party friends there are within the winter season most a few events in the bars, in the village and on new year's eve.
Further skiing areas are within a day trip (see above) nearness. With only one stop distance of Bellwald-Fürgangen of the M.G.B. is in Fiesch with the cable railway to the Fiescheralp the first access to the Aletsch-Arena skiing area.
In the summer season one can very nicely walk.
But even with snow is a walk through a calm, snow powdered winter wonderland / forest with following stop off in a restaurant a nice plan.
In the summer at the Bellwald Sportbahnen one can take a Trottinett (french for scooter) or Mountaincar (pedal car without pedals ;) and let bring yourself uphill with the chairlift and whiz down the pistes...!
For mountain bikers there is the Bike Park of the Bellwald Sportbahnen !
Start at 2040 meters (6793 ft) – finish at 1650 meters (5494 ft), length 2400 meters (7260 ft to 9900 ft).
The record is at 3.20 minutes !

For Wanderers are the Gommer Höhenweg and the Rotten(Rhône)weg very nice trips.
Here is an extract of the Gommer Höhenweg pamphlet of the Furka Oberalp Bahn (today M.G.B.)
The Goms, the highest part of the Rhone Valley with its gem villages, the hidden treasures of art and the harmonic landscape invites to contemplative walk. The -Gommer Höhenweg- gives the look free to sun roasted villages, dreamy farms and the young Rhone, who looks like a silver ribbon which pull through the valley. In the east forms the Galenstock with its shiny old snow, in the west the pyramid of the Weisshorn the closing.
The -Rottenweg- follows on the left valley side the young Rotten (this is the name for the rhône in the upper valais) from Oberwald to Ernen.
Flower rich meadows change with shady forests. The charm of this path lies in the possibility, to visit the original valais villages with its good-looking churches.
The -Rottenweg- shows only few gradients and is down the line well placed. It's therefore suitable also for new wanderers and walkers.
Wander with measure. The Gommer Höhenweg and Rottenweg lead in short stages to the single villages with its railway stations of the Furka Oberalp (now M.G.B.). You can therefore also change on the tours easy the program and shorten or lengthen your trip...
