Description

The chalet is situated in a wonderful position away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. It is away from the village in a quiet hillside location.
There is a parking area near the bridge for 2 cars, accessible by car when there is no snow on the ground. The track to the chalet is best suited to a 4x4 car but is still accessible to those with a sense of adventure and determination. When there is snow on the ground, or for those not wanting to drive up to the chalet, there is a garage at the foot of the track where one car can be housed and a second parked in front of the garage. It is about 400m - a 5-minute walk, up to the parking area. Luggage or provisions can be transported in both winter and summer, using the motorized machine which is housed in the garage. There are around 70 steps up to the chalet, which can be part of your holiday fitness regime!
Directions from Tourist Office
From the Tourist Office take the main road in the direction of Hasliberg Reuti. After 650m, turn left into a narrow road between the two wooden Von Bergen buildings (yellow sign). Follow this road for around 600m, there are a numberof bends, after a straight section of around 100m the road bends to the right, where you will see the picture above. In the winter, when there is snow on the ground, cars should be left in or in front of the garage.
The all season motorized load transporter is stored in the garage, available to guests for transporting luggage or provisions. The track up to the chalet is to the left of the picture, follow the small road 400m higher to the parking place by the bridge, to your right, in front of the chalet steps. Two cars can be parked in the area by the bridge.
In snow free conditions, the drive up to the chalet is best suited to a 4x4, but it is used by 8 chalets in Dornen. Those guests, unused to steep hillside tracks, may prefer to leave their vehicles at the garage and walk up.

Chalet Dornen is a detached property, which is suitable for family or friends to share the two habitable floors – such as grandparents, parents and grandchildren or two families with children.
The main entrance is to the rear and leads into an area for coats, shoes and many house slippers which are available for guests to use
A hallway leads into a very light and comfortable living room and dining area with panoramic views over the mountains. Decorated in an English style, there is a wood burning stove for the cooler evenings, which adds to the cosy homely atmosphere of the chalet. There are doors leading onto the south facing balcony, from where you can sit and enjoy the breathtaking, uninterrupted views of the Haslital.
On the same floor there is a well-equipped kitchen with fridge, dishwasher, microwave, kettle, toaster and both a Nespresso and espresso coffee machine. It has a nostalgic feel with original electric oven and hob.
The bathroom is modern, with newly fitted WC, sink and corner bath with shower. Also, on this floor, there is one bedroom with a double bed and another with two singles.
To the rear of the house, there are wooden stairs up to the upper floor. Entry is into an open room with a seating area and 2 single beds under the eaves. There is a separate bedroom with a double bed and a small bathroom with new modern WC, washbasin and shower.
Each floor has access to WIFI and to Swisscom TV, the main floor also has satellite TV. There are DVDs, toys, games and some books available to the guests.
Downstairs in the cellar there is room for storing mountain bikes or skis. There is a freezer for purchased food stuffs and an extra fridge for drinks, salads or vegetables. The washing machine is free to use, should it be needed. Sledges and out grown ski/snowboard equipment are available at guests own risk.
In front of the Chalet is a large south facing terrace with a large wooden seat beneath the balcony, so protected from the weather. An outside table and chairs are stored in the cellar for summer use and the BBQ is available for al fresco eating.
