The Danish Railway Museum: All Aboard for Adventure

A Great Day Out for the Whole Family

Located in the heart of Odense on the island of Funen, the Danish Railway Museum is one of Denmark’s most exciting family attractions. Step into the grand historic train depot and get up close to impressive locomotives, carriages, and fascinating railway exhibits. Sit on old-fashioned wooden benches, peek inside a royal carriage, or stand in the driver’s seat of a majestic steam locomotive. It’s a hands-on journey through time that delights visitors of all ages.

Ride the Mini-Train

Children (and adults!) love the museum’s very own miniature train, which runs several times a day. The ride passes through miniature railway landscapes and scenes from Danish railway history – perfectly scaled for young explorers.

Play and Explore

Little ones will love the Children’s Station – a kid-sized railway world complete with ticket office, signal box, and plenty of room for imaginative play. In the train driver's workshop, kids can tinker and try things out. Don’t miss the outdoor playground with a climbable steam locomotive and a slide from the top of the water tower!

Step Back in Time with the Vintage Train

One of the museum’s most magical experiences is a ride on an authentic vintage train, running on the museum’s own tracks and station. Whether it’s powered by a historic railcar or a steam engine, the sights, sounds, and smells of the old railway come alive.
