Holiday Home Emilia Romagna
Holiday Fun with the Whole Family in Emilia Romagna
Imagine spending your holiday in Emilia Romagna, one of the most beautiful regions of northern Italy.
Steeped in history, wandering the charming village streets is like going back in time. Relax in comfort in your holiday home in Emilia Romagna and spend your precious family holiday time enjoying everything this spectacular region has to offer.
The region of Emilia Romagna is surrounded by stunning and diverse natural beauty. In the north is the Po River which flows to the Adriatic Sea. At the end is the Po Delta Regional Park, designated as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1999, and refuge to hundreds of bird, animal, and plant species.
All along the east is the Adriatic coastline with endless sandy beaches perfect for relaxing and exploring. Along the border of the Emilia Romagna region and Tuscany are the Apennine mountains. Spend time hiking, biking, river fishing, or just admiring the breathtaking views in these amazing hills.
Because art and castles are everywhere in the Emilia Romagna region, you won't have to travel far to find interesting places. Dozza village is a must-see spot situated on the top of a hill just 30 minutes south of Bologna. The entire village is covered in colorful murals that have been painted on stone walls, doors, and archways. You can explore Dozza on your own or arrange a guided tour.
On the Adriatic coast, the city of Ravenna boasts eight UNESCO heritage sites, two of which are the Basilica of Sant Apollinare Nuovo and the Mausoleum of Theodoric.
One of the most famous landmarks of the region is the University of Bologna. Founded in 1088, it is the oldest university in Europe and alma mater to famous students like Copernicus and Dante.
Don't leave out the famous fortresses of Mondaino, San Giovanni in Marignano, and Saludecio.
Along the coast where the sandy beaches are endless, the fun and relaxation are endless too. In Rimini, visit the Dolphinarium to see the dolphins show off their acrobatic talents. At the Acquario in Cattolica you'll see thousands of exotic fish species. You and your family can spend hours on the sea sailing, boating, swimming, or enjoying other active water sports.
There are several theme and amusement parks, pools, water rides, and golf courses in the region, too. After fun-packed days, quiet evening strolls watching the sunset over the sea are just what you need to relax.
If you are looking for fun activities in the hills, there are four stunning parks to explore. In the Tuscan-Emilian Apennine National Park, one of the most impressive sites is the Pietra di Bismantova, a huge, flat-top rock in the Secchia River valley said to be between 15 and 20 million years old. Or, if you're up for a trek, try Mount Cimone, 2165 meters high. Towards the top is charming Lake Ninfa where you can stand and admire all of Italy below.
