Picturesque Southern Sweden is a Top Holiday Spot

Southern Sweden is known for its rolling hills, fairy tale cottages, and white beaches.

It is as picturesque as the books and movies make it out to be, making it a terrific place for a holiday.

Renting a holiday home gives you the ability to really experience the area as the locals do and adds authentic flare to your vacation.

The Smaaland region is a perfect spot for the adventurous and athletic couple or family. There is a plethora of hiking trails in the Store Mosse National Park. Or you can head over to Isaberg, which is a beautiful forest and lake area, where you can go horseback riding, canoeing, and cycling.

Visitors can also take a boat trip around the area and stop for dinner at a waterside restaurant. Since Sweden is famous for its unique furniture, you may want to stop by Smaaland's Kingdom of Crystal and Kingdom of Furniture to see lots of Swedish furniture. 

Enjoy the many cafes and outdoor eateries in Gotland while taking in the stunning medieval architecture. Make sure to stop by the Sankt Mary Cathedral and then stop at the Gotland Museum in Visby to learn all about the region's history. No visit to Gotland would be complete without a visit to Rauks, which is a giant natural limestone pillar. 

The Borgholms Castle is one of the coolest attractions in Oland. It is an old castle ruin, and there are lots of activities for kids to do there. Tourists will also enjoy Eketorp Fortress, which allows visitors to pretend to be invaders through a pillow fight demonstration. Animal lovers will enjoy the Olands Animal and Amusement Park, which features 160 different animal species and "Pirate Park," a water park filled with rides and slides. 

Ystad has been made famous by Wallander, so stop by Ystad Studios for a guided tour by Wallander of the town and its history. Ystad Studios is the largest film studio in all of Scandinavia. Also, make time for Saint Knut's Square and the well-preserved Saint Petri church. After visiting the studios, head over the the coast and relax on the sandy beaches while looking at the gorgeous rolling Skane countryside.
