Trogir is the Small Town of your Dreams

Trogir in Croatia is a delightful town on the Adriatic coast.

It's on one of many small islands situated along the coast of mainland Croatia, providing stunning views of the sea. It is, however, close enough to the mainland to be connected by roads, providing convenient transportation. As a matter of fact, it's only a 27-kilometer drive from the popular town of Split and only 6 kilometers from its airport. 

So, since it is easy to get into and out of Trogir, why would you want to visit? Besides the already mentioned views of the Adriatic Sea, the center of the town has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997. The town is densely populated with churches and other historical sites dating back as far as the 13th century. As a matter of fact, it is one of the most well-preserved sites for medieval architecture in all of Europe.

When you walk the quaint city streets, you'll feel like you've stepped back in time. It wouldn't be hard to imagine knights clad in shining armor clomping down the same walkways you are. For that very reason, you may recognize some of your surroundings, as the popular HBO television show Game of Thrones is filmed in Croatia. 

Weather in Trogir is generally mild throughout the year, providing an escape from the heat of many parts of Europe in the summer, and relief from biting cold and snow in the winter. The worst you'll find is a bit of rain, but rest assured it won't put a damper on your trip. It will only add to the medieval charm of the town and give you an excuse to duck into a nice restaurant for a coffee with the friendly locals. Or you could grab a bite of one of many local comfort foods such as burek or brudet. 

Once you feel you've explored the island to its fullest, it's time to venture into the sea. Trogir boasts two marinas for your yachting pleasure. 

So, no matter what you enjoy, you're sure to find something to satisfy your craving for adventure. And, once you feel you've had all of the adventures possible and return to your comfortable life, it won't be long before you are longing to return to the Croatian coast.
